Carolyn Marie has been involved in the field of beauty and fashion for many years; first as a model, then as a makeup artist and beauty consultant. Her experience spans over 20 years. When high definition filming was introduced, she immediately went to New York to train in the application of airbrush makeup. This has become her specialty.
Carolyn’s formal training was with the Von Lee International School of Aesthetics, and she received a license for makeup artistry from the State of Maryland. Her experience includes work in television, film, print, theater, live performances and weddings. She was also a consultant for the Wall Street Journal for an article on the changes in makeup for high definition filming.
In addition to being the makeup artist for the series on C Span, Landmark Cases, and the 2015 Presidential Forum where she was the makeup artist for three presidential candidates, she was also the makeup artist for C Span’s 2014-2015 series, First Ladies. Carolyn’s client list includes Academy and Emmy Award winners, sports commentators, television networks and personalities, film producers, and national and international news networks to name a few. She also conducts group makeup sessions for corporate and private groups.
Giving back to the community is important to Carolyn. She works with Project Search, teaching grooming, hair and makeup. Project Search is a program that places special needs teens in positions as interns, teaching them essential job skills. She does pro bono work for charitable organizations for events and fundraisers such as the Junior Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase at their Night of Comedy event. She has also served as lead panelist and guest speaker at several meetings and seminars in discussions about makeup for film and television. Her services have been donated to several non-profit organizations.
Carolyn is a member of Women in Film & Video (WIFV). She is a true believer that the makeup artist is crucial in making the talent/character “believable.”
In addition to being a go-to makeup artist, Carolyn is also a certified event planner. This skill is a tremendous asset to producers when working with them on timelines and organization.
